Honestly I can't - NOT do it!
How is that for a pile of double negatives?
But that is the only way I know how to say it. From the time I was small I was always creating something. I was an only child out on the farm and I had to have a vivid imagination to keep myself occupied.
I remember being outside and playing on the steps to the smokehouse and the pipe rail on the cellar door. They were castles and mountains and I was a princess.
When I was in the 4th grade I learned to sew and begged for a sewing machine. Then that consumed all my spare time. But soon I was not just content to buy a pattern and sew as instructed but was modifying each pattern making it my own and unique.
Years later I because a florist and to this day I still love designing and creating floral arrangements.
I have tried just about every single craft or diy project out there. But usually once the challenge or thrill of trying something new has worn off I was on to the next big thing. However when i discovered jewelry making I could not stop wanting (having) to do it. Each day is a new adventure and challenge.
In the past if something didn't turn out right or if it was too hard it no longer became fun. But with jewelry making that has never been the case. I am constantly having projects not go as planned, but that doesn't stop me. I learn and get better and often make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!
For instance... These beautiful earrings were birthed out of the SW Gallery Cuff that broke. Wallah - 2 beautiful earrings emerged! Now I wear them all the time and they are on my website for sale. Click the pic above to see them.
So it is true that I just cannot NOT create jewelry. Do you have something like that? I hope so. Maybe you just haven't found your something yet. Keep trying. You will know when you find it!
P.S. I left the last Saturday in March open. There is a slot for 2 half day classes or 1 all day class. I want to hear from you what you would like to see on that day. No commitment if you can't come. But if you could come, what would you want to see in those 2 slots?
